North Salem sits in the northeast corner of
Westchester County, 55 miles from New York City and minutes from
Connecticut. Rural country and horses are the essence of North
Salem. Horse farms dominate the landscape of rolling fields and
meandering roads. The countryside creates the perfect setting for
the Goldens Bridge Hounds, a local hunt club. Equestrians find the
area to be ideal, whether competing in horse shows or just enjoying
the miles of trails. North Salem is a pastoral retreat containing
vast expanses of unspoiled country.
While North Salem is very rural it is not hard to find a few
exquisite antique shops or top notch restaurants. The privacy and
beauty have made North Salem a convenient country get away for some
of Manhattan's high profile residents. Salem Center, Croton Falls
and Purdys are the three small hamlets located within North Salem.
Metro North train stations are available at both Purdys and Croton
Falls. I-684 and I-84 are also easily accessible. The North Salem
School system has received the "Schools of Excellence" designation.
